Hi, my name is Alvin, and on the 17th of September 2026 at 12 p.m., my beloved brother, Dennis Muchene, passed away from leukaemia.

Dennis was a light wherever he went and was someone you’d find difficult to dislike. He had a lot of rough patches in his life and went through so much, but he was on the path to fixing his mistakes and rewriting his life. Unfortunately, he didn’t have time to carry out this plan 100% of the way, but he still tried his best.

During Dennis’ time in the hospital, I was at university and didn’t have the money to constantly visit him. I was also trying to focus on studying and completing my year. My mum and uncle were the only people who could regularly visit him, and my mum went above and beyond. Every day after work, she would go straight to see Dennis, often ignoring food and anything else just to be there for him.

Dennis was in the hospital for over 280 days, and I could probably count on one hand the number of days my mum missed. She always made sure he was happy, entertained, and comforted throughout this process, showing just how great of a mother she really is.

Currently, there’s an insane amount of stress on my mum to come up with £5,000–£6,000 for funeral expenses. This is money we simply don’t have at the moment. On top of that, she hasn’t been working recently because, just before Dennis passed away, his condition became too much for her to bear while also working. This caused her to miss out on money from picking up shifts, working overtime, etc.

At this point, I’m meant to be back at university, working a job down there to fund my living situation. However, because of everything that’s happening, I’m staying home for a few weeks, meaning I won’t have an income to help my mum with these expenses.

Dennis was such a cool brother and introduced me to so many things that I carry with me throughout my life today: comics, movies, superheroes, TV shows, music, and so much more. I could write so many things that my brother loved and introduced me to that I now love too.

Dennis’ favourite character was Batman, and he loved him so much. He even liked the Batman movie from 1997, which sucked but was incredibly fun to watch together.

I’m writing all of this so you can understand how great of a person Dennis was and how much of an impact he had on many people’s lives. Dennis was truly loved by everyone and would never intentionally leave a bad impression on anyone.

With all of this said, I ask that if you have any money you’d be willing to give to help us cover his funeral expenses, it would be greatly appreciated. I can’t put into words how much it would mean to me, my mum, and my family.
