Dennis Morrisons Fight against Cancer

Hi there!

My name is Laurie Morrison. My husband Dennis and I live in Medicine Hat AB. We are generally very private people and don’t like to broadcast our troubles. With that being said, since last August Dennis has been having some health issues, specifically with his blood.

In August he had a blood transfusion, followed by 3 iron IVs. On February 6th 2 hours after yet another blood test the Dr called saying all 3 blood levels were critically low. He was admitted that day to the hospital. Over the next several days he was poked, prodded and had more tests than he could imagine. Including colonoscopy, MRI, CT scan, Endoscopy, Bone Density and 3 more units of blood he was released. At which time he was scheduled for a Bone Marrow Biopsy in Lethbridge. On February 16th the Dr called and told us that most of the test results were good. However he has cancer in his Esophagus. Wow!! We did not see that coming.

Since his diagnosis we’ve had to make 3 trips to Calgary. One to see a Surgeon, one for an Endoscopic Ultrasound and one for a PET Scan. He’s been told he needs 30 radiation and 6 chemotherapy treatments over a course of 6 weeks. Unfortunately the radiation can not be done in Medicine Hat. So we will have to travel back and forth to Lethbridge.

We are still waiting for consolations with 2 more Drs before those treatments can be scheduled. Hopefully sooner the better. Although I still work full time, the time I’ve taken off work to be with Dennis for his appointments and travel has already put a burden on us.

As much as it hurts me to ask we need help. Anything you can give to help us financially, as our journey towards recovery begins, will help so much.
