Recently my dear friend and coworker, Dennis Monzo, passed away suddenly at the young age of 46. This unexpected and tragic event has left his friends, family, and co-workers in disbelief. Personally I have worked alongside Dennis in the construction industry for the past 12 years during which Dennis expressed the importance of strong family values and the joy children bring to life.
Dennis was very outspoken and instilled in me how precious life is and how there was no greater feeling then having a large family and children of your own. His office walls and computer backgrounds were filled with family photos and portraits of his wife and children. His goals and priorities revolved around his wife, children, and God. I quickly learned how this affected his decision making and the true meaning of life.
I have countless memories of Dennis’ concern for the less fortunate and those in need (not counting the numerous times he bought me coffee or lunch). While on the jobsite, Dennis would give to the homeless and preach the importance of charity. In fact, one homeless man was so ecstatic by Dennis’ generosity that the man swore to oversee and protect our construction materials from theft and vandalism throughout the duration of the project.
Among so many things in life, Dennis was a provider to his family. He was a career warrior where he never gave up in hopes that his family was always cared for and made comfortable. His resilient passion to succeed and overcome all derived from one thing… the love of protection of his family.
In his passing, I ask that you please help support his wife Lisa Monzo by supporting the “Dennis Monzo Memorial College Fund”. Dennis leaves behind four precious children Marissa (13), Dennis (12), Ava (10), and Michael (3).
