My Dad Dennis Martin Smith was born December 1st, 1954 in Walnut Creek, CA. Raised in Fairfield, CA, graduated from Armijo High School in 1972. A 2nd generation Locksmith, lover of The Grateful Dead, Tie Dye, The Giant's, Fishing, golfing, camping, online poker, Pepsi, cruising "The Loop", road trips, Jeopardy, NA,patchouli oil, reading, motorcycles, and most of all his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and a love/hate way about him.  He was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer on June 10th during an ER trip and while waiting for an oncology appointment, he suffered a stroke and brain bleed on July 7th. He had several visitors that day and it was a miracle that he wasn't alone when it happened. It was found that he had several brain tumors and due to the stroke he lost most verbal communication and use of the right side of his body. He was at the Kaiser Antioch Hospital where several close friends and family (some traveled from out of state) were able to visit with him. He was placed on hospice comfort care and on July 18th transferred to a skilled nursing facility in Elk Grove. Again he had close friends and family visit and we received hundreds of messages and prayers during he last few days before taking his journey to heaven... Dennis Martin Smith passed away peacefully Saturday morning on July 27th, 2019 at 10:20AM. Two close family friends and I were there to say our final goodbye's. Our family has created a FB group for a place to share photos and memories for his life and legacy.  I'm beginning to make final arrangements and part of that is setting up a Go Fund Me to help with financial matters. Monday July 29th I met with Simple Traditions to proceed with the cremation process. I'm working with a few family members who are helping me with the Fairfield-Suisun cemetery arrangements. The date is still unknown for the funeral / celebration of life service. We have a family church in Fairfield for the service.  I'm also preparing an obituary for The Daily Republic. I want to say thank you to everyone who already has reached out to my sister and I, this is extremely difficult for us to say the least and I'm grateful to have the love and support from all of you. I'm sure I'm missing something, so I'll be posting updates as they come. ~Karina Mary Smith Dennis Martin Smith 12/1/1954-7/27/2019 Friday August 23rd, 2019 Funeral 2pm Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery 1707 Union Ave Fairfield 94533 Celebration of Life Service 3pm-6pm Grace Family Church 631 Railroad Ave Suisun 94585 Karina Mary Smith (916) 706 - 7944
