Dennis Burton Recovery Fund

On April 10th, 2022, Dennis was snowboarding at Sunshine Village, doing one of the things he loves to do when he had a serious accident. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was taken to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, where he remained in a coma for 12 days until he was stable enough to transfer to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton.

On May 12th, Dennis transferred to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, where he will benefit from an extensive, world-class rehabilitation program. While Dennis is steadily making progress, this will be a long and challenging journey for him and his loved ones. Our hope is for Dennis to be well enough to come home soon and live the best life possible.

We are very grateful for every kind word, message of encouragement and support the family has received. It is clear that Dennis’ love of adventure, keen sense of humour, brilliant smile, and willingness to always lend a hand has endeared him to so many people.

Naturally, everyone asks how they can help, and we understand that Dennis’ “village” of family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, students, teammates and loved ones want to play a meaningful role in his recovery.

Dennis has made steady progress so far and will continue to recover in the weeks ahead. Some adaptations to the family home may be needed to support his recovery outside of a hospital setting once he can come home. This is where your generosity would benefit the family the most.
