Dennis Borghese Memorial Scholarship Fund

Over 40 years ago, Dennis Borghese, a native of Long Island, created the Pet Den that became a landmark in Commack, NY. The Pet Den was a unique shop that provided exotic animals and the finest pet care and products to customers all over New York and farther.  Dennis then founded the Pet Zoo On Wheels and Party Jungle, which provided educational programs for children and adults about the animal kingdom.  He also developed his own custom aromatic birdseed blends that quickly became renown amongst feathered friends.

Dennis has touched generations of lives with his charismatic personality and selfless love for each animal and person he met everyday.  He was truly a compassionate person who made time for his customers, family, friends and even strangers whenever they needed.

Since Dennis’s sudden passing from heart failure on February 21, 2018, it has been overwhelming to see the response and tremendous support from all who knew him.  Watching the community and his customer base come together to honor him and support his family has been truly touching.

To honor his legacy, the Borghese family has established the Dennis Borghese Memorial Scholarship Fund as a way to thank the community for all their loyalty and respect for Dennis.  They feel what better way than to help a student who has the same love, passion and admiration for animals as Dennis did. The Borghese family will choose a graduating student annually from Commack High School in Commack, NY, the town where the Pet Den was a staple in.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated as they hope is to raise enough money to keep this going for years to come.  It would be the Borghese Family’s honor to award a Scholarship to a student in Commack in remembrance of Dennis and all that he stood for.
