Dennis and Christie Schuessler, Jr.

Donation protected
Dennis has been in the hospital since Sunday, 1/23/22 and is going home today, 1/27.

On Monday, 1/17, Dennis, Christie, Madison and Marissa tested positive for Covid-19, and they all were seemingly doing better on Saturday, 1/22. However, on Sunday, 1/23, Dennis began experiencing shortness of breath and pain in his shoulder. Christie rushed him to the emergency room near their house.

After a great deal of testing, the medical team determined that they should send Dennis to another hospital for more specialized heart testing and treatment. In addition to testing on his heart, Dennis underwent multiple Covid tests, all had negative results. Even though he tested negative for the virus, it is known that Covid attacks the weakest part of a patient’s body. The virus most likely accelerated this heart issue.

Late Sunday night, the ambulance transported Dennis to the different hospital. While he was admitted to the hospital right away, they couldn’t put Dennis into a room until after 5 pm on Monday. His heart rate and blood pressure continued to fluctuate radically during all of this time.

As they continued to test throughout the day, the medical team learned that Dennis had a heart attack. He eventually had a heart catheter procedure to learn more about what was going on. We know now that Dennis has a heart aneurysm. He will have to be on blood thinners for the rest of his life so he does not get blood clots.

The heart specialists determined that surgery was not a viable option due to the high risk. Instead, they will manage his heart condition with multiple medications including daily injections and frequent medical visits. We do not know when he will be released to work.

Christie will be bringing Dennis home later this afternoon. The family needs your help and prayers. Most of the necessary time off the last two weeks will not be covered with paid leave by their employers.  In addition, their insurance coverage will not pay all of the medical expenses. This is compounded with their worries about buying groceries and paying next month's bills. Anything you can give would be most appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!
