At 36 weeks pregnant and 31 years old our daughter, Denna, was diagnosed with malignant breast cancer. First priority was a safe and healthy delivery of new baby Roman Lee. Roman and big sister Capri both happy and healthy and strong like their mom.
Second priority is a full on assault and aggressive attack on this dreaded condition called "Cancer" (triple negative breast cancer). Sixteen Chemotherapy treatments followed up by mastectomy surgery (Moffett in Tampa) and another follow up with a round of Radiation therapy all to cure and rid her body of this invasive condition that won't keep this woman's hopes and dreams from being reality.
A little about Denna, a daughter, wife, mom, friend to so many a very successful ER Trauma Nurse, trainer and educator, student looking to graduate as a nurse practitioner in 2018. This is my little girl but as a woman has never ceases to amaze me with her caring ability, her heart of gold and drive to success and completion .
I think about the all the lives she's touched and all the lives she's help save in the ER and all the times she herself has been in harms way to help others here at our local Tallahassee Medical Hospital as a nurse. Currently, while Denna is undergoing the chemo treatments and due to greatly reduced immune system resistance to illness she is unable to work directly in the emergency room, physically able to work but for reasons of her safety can't be exposed to unknown patient health conditions that exist. The hospital, at this time is unable or unwilling to provide a temporary safer position for this amazing devoted health care provider to continue to contribute more we realize .
Denna continues to search for opportunity to continue working but at this time is very limited and the family reserves are slowly but surly being depleted.
Insurance can be a very good things and helps with much of the cost of medical expense. What it will not cover is the lost time at work, deductibles, normal daily expenses, child care, expenses for travel and housing at specialty facilities like Moffett in Tampa. Life's expenses don't stop and this family could use a little help and allow them to focus on the cure and to be a mom and dad to a couple of the most amazing children i have every known.
Now here's the kicker - The Hunter's are a proud family, they would help a total stranger but won't dare ask for help for themselves. Many people have asked to help and its hard to pinpoint a need or a place to help. Well folks here it is .... any help you can do, any funding you provide to this account will go directly to the means to the cure for Denna and all the prayers you can offer to God to help this young family, those beautiful babies, my daughter and friend to all of us through this difficult time would really be appreciated by the Hunter's ...
Denna is on the path for the cure, it's a struggle and a fight every day to maintain this fight. My daughter is one of the strongest persons know, let's take some of the financial worry off her plate and allow her to focus in her wellness and family.
Thank you in advance
Dave LaVieri (Father)
