Denison 5th grader shot Family Needs Help & Prayer

Donation protected

Denison resident, Eric Escalera, was taking his children to visit the Holiday Lights on Monday, December 7, 2020. They were in no hurry moseying along singing Christmas Carols, when someone opened fire on their vehicle. Dad was shot in the arm, but his concern was with his children. He asked if everyone was okay. His 10 year old daughter, Adelaye Escalera, was unable to answer. Adelaye had been shot in the head. Dad rushed her to the hospital and then she was care-flighted to a Dallas Children’s hospital where she remains in ICU. The bullet does not appear to have pierced her skull, but her brain is swelling. She is currently in a medically induced coma. Dad is asking for all the prayers folks can muster to join him in praying for a Christmas miracle. Dad is sleeping in his car in the hospital’s parking garage just to be close to his baby girl.

I am Dad’s attorney who became a friend.  He is a single dad who has custody of his two little ones.  Dad is a home health aide who only works the hours his children are in school, and as a result he lives paycheck to paycheck. All of Dad’s time out of work is devoted to his little ones. Dad will be unable to work for at least a week due to his injury, and he strongly desires to sit by his child’s bedside as long as it takes. This is going to be devastating financially for this family. This family will need support for living expenses and random bills as they recover from this senseless act of violence inflicted upon them by a stranger. We are asking for donations to assist the Escalera family in this time of need, and prayers for the entire family, as Addy needs prayers for a safe recovery, but also for Dad who is devastated, and for Addy’s little brother who was sitting by her side and watched his big sister, the most important person is his young life, be senselessly injured.

Please help the Escalera family focus on healing and what is important, instead of the bills that are going to come due.

Any help is appreciated, especially prayers. Thank you for taking your time to read about our friend's tragic situation.
