7 weeks ago, my very dear friend, Denise Loren, was diagnosed with Stage 4 - HER2 Positive breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones - and we found out last night that it has also spread to several areas of her brain with mild swelling. This news is still sinking in for those of us closest to Denise, but we are very aware that this is just the beginning of a long long journey.

Denise is not a timid spirit. She is fierce, powerful, loyal, loving, giving and most importantly - a fighter! She is an incredible matriarch to her family, always putting them first. She is a loving wife of 24 years, a doting mother of 3 beautiful children and incredibly devoted to her work. Even after learning of her diagnosis, every time we speak on the phone, her first question to me is, "How are YOU doing?" even though she is the one fighting for her life. That is the character of this incredible woman! Those of you lucky enough to know Denise on a personal level understand that she has had a lot of tough times in her life that would defeat most. Everything she has accomplished has been a result of hard work, sacrifice and determination. This is how I know without question, that Denise will beat this!

My name is Kate Barnette. I've been close to the Loren Family for roughly 7 years (feels more like a lifetime). Our children are forever friends and our families will forever be a part of one another's lives. Denise cares deeply for her loved ones and shows that love with her time, her dedication, her wisdom, her strength, and her joy. If you know Denise, you know she is always the first to jump in and help whenever anyone is in need. Now it's our turn to come together as a community to support the Lorens in this very difficult time. I have created the GoFundMe together as a joint effort from friends, families and coworkers. Please note this is the ONLY Official GoFundMe that will be created for Denise. We are looking to raise $100 thousand dollars which will go directly to help Denise as she seeks treatment both with the standard protocol of chemotherapy and full brain radiation therapy, along with alternative methods which include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, sound therapy, and press pulse metabolic therapy.
