Help Denise Defeat Triple Positive Breast Cancer

We know and trust God has this. Your prayers are very much appreciated and needed for Denise, the Dunsmore family and her medical team.

Denise was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer (HER-2; ER; SR) on November 2, 2023. The month of November was full of diagnostic tests, medical appointments, referrals to specialists all to develop the best treatment plan to defeat the cancer.

Being proactive, knowledgeable and having an amazing patient advocate all really helped the process from diagnosis to beginning treatment move quickly. First chemotherapy infusion was on 11/30/2023.

Denise and Rick have a beautiful 5 year old son.

Denise’s oldest son Brett passed away on her birthday in 2020.

The family has been through a lot over the past few years.

The Dunsmore’s are very fortunate to have great health insurance. However, cancer treatment is extremely expensive. The individual deductible is $7,900 per family member per year (which unfortunately restarts in January.)

Both Denise and Rick have missed several days of work during the past 2 months. Denise is covered by short term disability insurance during treatment. The disability insurance benefit pays at 60% of full regular pay. Denise has a long road ahead of treatment and recovery and she will not be able to work full time during this period.

This fight is a costly battle with the decrease in pay, insurance deductibles, medical bills, and household expenses. Any assistance for the family is greatly appreciated.

Multiple resources including medication copay assistance, grants and monetary assistance have been applied for and they are continually applying for new and ongoing resources.

The current treatment plan is 6 big rounds of chemotherapy with targeted therapy, every 3 weeks. Once the 6 rounds of chemotherapy are completed a double mastectomy will be performed. Targeted therapy is a year long treatment every 3 weeks. Finally hormone blockers will be taken for 5 to 10 years.
