Denise was born on February 18, 1970, in Columbus, MS. She was a proud graduate of Jackson State University and Michigan State University. Denise was an excellent student, earning numerous academic scholarships. It was through this experience that the desire grew to help someone from her hometown attend Jackson State University.
A scholarship board has been established to create the Denise T. West Memorial Scholarship. Upon her passing on May 30, 2021, Denise's family asks that donations be made to the scholarship fund in lieu of flowers. The scholarship board will solicit applications for students enrolling to Jackson State University in the fall of 2022, and the board will share the name of the winner with all of the donors, friends and family before the fall term commences.
