Our dear friend Denise suffered a long three years with Interstitial Lung Disease. Her last few years of life consisted of many visits to the hospital, with a constant need for oxygen to survive. While all this occurred, she still managed to have a positive outlook towards her situation. Due to all of the doctor visits the expenses continually grew, which caused strain to those who loved her. This page was created to help support her husband Matt (Matthew) Lewis and family during this difficult time.
Denise was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Always being there for everyone with unconditional love. Denise had a love for children, all her nieces, nephews, and neighborhood kids. She touched the hearts of many children and teachers through her job as a Paraprofessional in ISD #196, and the home daycare that she ran for many years. Denise also had a passion for animals bringing home any abandoned or stray animals that she found. She also enjoyed spending time in her many beautiful gardens.
Denise was the kind of person who could make anyone smile. If Denise was a color, she would be yellow. She lit up every room she walked into. Her big, bright smile and optimistic personality was truly infectious. She always put others before herself making all those around her feel important and loved. If you were in need of a helping hand, Denise was there. Her witty charm and contagious laugh attracted countless friendships over the years.
Denise left us far too soon, but she made an impact on everyone she met. We are all so blessed to have known and been loved by such a force like Denise. Her empathetic heart is something that she will always be remembered for. And her genuine love for life itself, was one of her many gifts that will continue to inspire everyone who knew Denise.
