Denise Harris's Legacy for Pancreatic Cancer Research

In loving memory of our beloved mother, Denise Harris, who bravely faced pancreatic cancer, we are launching this GoFundMe campaign to honour her legacy. Denise was a source of unwavering love, strength, and resilience. Her warm smile, easy laugh and boundless compassion touched everyone she met, and her strength inspired us all, even during her hardest moments.

Pancreatic cancer is among the deadliest cancers, often due to late diagnosis and limited treatment options. Most patients, like Denise, are diagnosed at an advanced stage when treatment options are severely limited. Sadly, the five-year survival rate for stage 4 pancreatic cancer is less than 3%, highlighting the urgent need for early detection and improved therapies.

Denise’s sudden battle was as swift as it was heartbreaking—only days before her diagnosis, she completed a 50km bike ride. Yet, less than 11 weeks later, we lost her. Her passing has strengthened our commitment to make a difference for others facing this disease.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to contribute to this campaign, with all proceeds going to PanKind, The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. PanKind is dedicated to improving survival rates and enhancing quality of life for those affected by pancreatic cancer. Their work focuses on early detection, new treatment development, and critical support for patients and their families.

The funds raised will support PanKind’s Early Detection Initiative to help identify pancreatic cancer sooner and their commitment to researching new treatments. They also advocate for equitable access to care and aim to raise awareness about the symptoms, working tirelessly to save lives.
