Denise de Sousa - Gone too soon

Denise de Sousa was a beautiful and brilliant woman who continues to touch the lives of many. She lived her life authentically. Each day was full of energy, she loved her family unconditionally, her friends fiercely, she excelled at her career, had a contagious laugh, and she gave more of herself to others than humanly possible.

Denise was diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring of 2022. She quickly jumped into action to get the best possible care and treatment in Toronto. In between medical treatments and recovery, she socialized with family and friends, attended fitness classes, took day trips and experienced new things. She celebrated the simplicity of daily life.

Her full recovery was expected. Then, in late 2022, cancer was discovered elsewhere in her body. She doubled down on her efforts to seek and receive the best possible medical attention. In March, 2023, it metastasized yet again. Denise and Marc pulled out all the stops and took a leap of faith. They travelled to the United States for integrative cancer treatment. The cancer was resistant despite modern medicine’s best treatments.

Denise passed away far too soon from metastatic breast cancer in Arizona, USA on Friday April 28th, 2023 surrounded by her husband Marc, the love of her life, her three children she was immensely proud of; Matthew, Rebecca, and Daniel, as well as her brother Peter, Marc’s parents, siblings, and their spouses. She felt the prayers, love and support from us all. “The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and Denise’s heart burned bright”.

Any donation is greatly appreciated. Donations will be given directly to Denise’s family to cover the extensive expenses incurred for medical treatment and her journey home, to her final rest.
