Denied Life-Saving Surgery from Broken Healthcare System

I’m reaching out on behalf of my husband, Jim, who was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer at the age of 63, near the eve of his retirement, and has been fighting ever since. Jim underwent extensive chemo for almost a year in order to receive surgery to remove the tumor. After completing the treatment, the life-saving surgery is now being denied.

I’ve spoken to Mayo Clinic in Arizona who will do the needed surgery right away, as time is critical. They are world renowned and have successfully preformed thousands of these surgeries for cancer patients. The estimated cost of the surgery provided by Mayo, including all necessary treatments and the recovery stay, is $74,000 USD, approximately $96,000 CAD. The surgery will be done soon in October 2024.
