Grant Brackenbury’s Dendritic Cell Therapy

As most of you are aware I have now had four surgeries to remove brain tumours and been fighting the fight for almost seven years. I have now had chemo and three lots of radiation. The only drug left for me in Australia is Avastin.  I have this on a fortnightly infusion at RHS hospital, Sydney. We have had to pay for the first six infusions at a cost of $20,000. Lucky our health fund (Teachers Health) have reimbursed us 50%. Now it is free, but with a $500 annual fee.

I was accepted into an immunotherapy clinical trial at St Vincent’s hospital in Sydney, but unfortunately it did not work.

Early last year, after many hours of research, we decided to try Dendritic Cell Therapy in Germany. The cost is quite high - $11,000-$12,000 per visit plus airfares, train and accommodation at a total cost of around $18,000. Treatment has been on a four weekly cycle but as time goes, this may extend out to six monthly or even annually.

So far we have been funding this ourselves, but we cannot sustain this forever.

As you know, I am a fighter, and I have far exceeded the life expectancy associated with this cruel disease. I have too much to live for. At this time any financial donations will be greatly appreciated.
