Last week, we were so happy to hear my Mom's good news:CANCER FREE, SURVIVORSHIP PROGRAM at M.D. Anderson. However, it was short lived; 8 hours later she received a call to inform her that cancer had returned. We are devastated.
My mother, Dena Terry Gautreaux, wife of Donnie "Joe" Gautreaux, was a relatively healthy, outgoing woman. In October 2008, she was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer. The cancer was in both glands as well as the muscles in the neck. After treatment, it seemed all was well. In March of 2013, we were blindsided with yet another diagnosis that the cancer had returned. This time she went to M.D. Anderson for another surgery with the majority of her lymph nodes in her neck and upper chest removed. all was well: 2 years and 5 months with no cancer detected. On October 29, 2015, her normal check up at M.D. Anderson appeared good, until the results from the blood work were received. There were more nodules found with cancer, according to the cancer markers. Over the past 7 years my parents have been hit with tremedous medical bills. Thankfully, my dad had insurance through work, which is no longer the case. With 4 diagnosis of cancer, money has been very tight. Now they are facing even more, as she isnt eligible for Medicare yet. Our family is asking if you can help finacially in any way to please do so. Money will be used for travel expense/medical bills
