We're Noble Homestead: Vicki (me, crazy creative full of love), Ray (best most patient Dad ever), and the kids (most awesome children living their BEST lives). We're raising our grandkids (since they were babies) on a patch of green in Upstate NY and doing the best that we can. We share LOTS of love with our two outdoor cats, 6 chickens, and our Dog, Demmy. We call him a "Laprador Retriever." He is 95 pounds of soft and warm Sweet, Smiley Big Baby, and full of Waggy, Licky, Giant Lapdog Love! He is the nicest thing we own, the sweetest creature we know, and the highlight of every day. We got him 3 hears ago when the nice cashier at our local grocery store had too many pups! We helped her out, and won the jackpot!

The Problem: Our sweet dog got into some Trident gum sweetened with Xylitol last night. Xylitol is deadly to dogs. Here is the AKC reportWe immediately called the Pet Poison Helpline (800-213-6680). We were on hold for 1/2 hour and did you know you need TO PAY WHEN YOU CALL? Ugh... so we paid. We had about $230 in the bank (Ray had been unemployed for over a year after being laid off from his HR Exec job at a fancy local hotel when CoVid hit, over a year and a half ago. I tried to keep us going with my camp business (themagicglamp .com) and my Etsy stores , but we are totally tapped out, and camp season is over. Ray started a new remote HR job a couple of weeks ago, but hasn't gotten a first paycheck yet.) School just started (clothes, supplies), then Soccer (needed all equipment), both kids started instruments (rentals!), both kids had birthdays ($!), and then school pictures. I drained my accounts down to almost nothing, keeping everything and everyone happy that I made some money this Summer. But now, there is nothing to help Demmy. A good friend suggested I do a Go Fund Me so here we are (thanks, Mrs C!).

They had us take him to the local animal hospital in Gansevoort. THERE WAS NO VET ON DUTY. Ray then had to take Demmers to Latham, NY, about an hour away. We were worried bc we read that dogs should be treated within a half an hour of ingesting Xylitol. After arriving, he was examined and they suggested he stay for the night on on IV and liver protection meds. It would be at least $2500. We could not foot that bill, so Ray applied for the "Care financing" that they have and of course was denied. The vet sent Ray and Demmy home at 4 am with orders to see our usual vet in the morning. That visit cost over $400. They took a partial payment that wiped out the last of the money I had saved from my business this summer. Today, Demmy is at his usual vet for the day, on IV, more tests, more meds, and under observation. That is going to cost at least $600 just for this. We will know how much more he will need at the end of today. That's not the end of it, though...
The liver damage could show up anytime. There's going to be more vet visits, and we have to buy him his medications and we are down to absolute zero.
We are asking for $2000 to help with these medical costs/fees. Please help us out with Demmy. He is a bright, happy, shiny spot in our otherwise rough and tough ride through life and we all love him so much. He enhances the quality of our lives. We don't care if we can't afford to go anywhere, or do anything outside of our property when we have Demmy entertaining us, snuggling, kissing, play bowing, and wagging with a big smile on his face! He is SO important to our family. Any help is so greatly appreciated by a family that has struggled to survive and still have so much love and positivity. Demmy appreciates it, too!

Each morning, every person in our house gets Demmy kisses as soon as they wake up. Every new day is like Christmas to Demmy! He is happy and well behaved and lives to play and cuddle. He is even nice to our two cats! He is a big, furry love bag. Thanks from our small, love-filled, hopeful family. We appreciate any support at all. Just you being here and caring is a help. Thank you from Demmy's family: Ray, Vicki, Vincent (11), Olivia (9), Demmy Doggerson (3) himself, and his two friends, rescued cats Charlie and Butterscotch. <3
Demmy is my therapist. I've had an unusual and difficult life, as has my family. Consequently, I'm known to be a bit too passionate and easily excited (if you know me, you know!). Most times I try too much and it gets me stressed that I'm not superhuman. I love and work hard, trying to make things better for everyone and anyone! Demmy has helped me become a better person, and Mom. He goes EVERYWHERE I go, or I don't want to go at all. He helps keep me calm. If I cry, he is in my lap licking all the tears away as fast as he can, making me giggle and forget why I was ever unhappy in the first place! If I fall, he gets his face up under me and tries to pick me up. He is my best friend, and I bet each of us in the family feels the same way.
