Demitri Crockett's memorial service fundraiser

Our beloved Demitri's precious life came to a tragic and untimely end the evening of Monday, October 10th, when he was shot and killed outside of his apartment building. His death has been a devastating blow to his family, friends and the surrounding community.

Death is never easy, but to lose a life just as it was coming into full bloom is beyond comprehension. Demitri was a brilliant songwriter, dancer, performer and much much more. He had dreams of greatness, but in the eyes of all lucky enough to know him he was already great. He had visions for a bright future performing all over the world and was working tirelessly towards those pursuits when he was so cruelly robbed of his future and the dreams those who loved and admired him held. Demitri’s smile was contagious, easily lighting up a city block. He never failed to lift others, encouraging them to pursue their own dreams and ambitions. He had a heart for animals, befriending any four legged creature he encountered. He was a fashionable young man who always looked effortlessly fly and devilishly handsome. He had a knack for language, scribbling away only to reveal something breathtaking minutes later. He had an unsurpassed determination, laser focused on his life’s goals.

He was a natural performer.
Demitri was never happier than when he was able to share his creations and make the troubles of those he so loved dissipate, as they lost themselves in his song, engulfed by his rhythm. He was never more vibrantly alive than he was with his music. It was a gift, an outlet for his frustrations and the many hardships he had endured. Demitri faced unthinkable tribulations and his life was full of powerful obstacles, yet he found beauty even in its pain.

Demitri was loved beyond measure and he will be missed for generations to come. Although he was not given the opportunity to grow old and see his dreams to fruition, his life was a beautiful. He mattered.

Now we are left in his wake trying to make sense of a song left unfinished, desperately attempting to make some sense of a senseless death....A life lost before the story was fully written.

In this time of great sorrow when our world seems so upside down, we humbly ask for your support as we try to pool our resources to help pay for this unexpected catastrophe. We are asking for donations to assist in cremation, memorial expenses, and helping to bring his biological family here for his celebration of life. Anything you can give will be put to good use and appreciated immensely. Thank you for your love and support through these difficult times. Please join us at Food To Power, Saturday the 22nd at 5:30 pm to celebrate Demitri Isaiah Crocket, our son, brother, and friend who is already so sorely missed.
