Demian Spilsbury Health and Medical Fund Raiser

My dear brother Demian is just off of life support and urgently needs your help. We appreciate anything you are able to give!

On December 14th, my brother Demian was visiting my mom and was admitted to Marin Health ER with serious breathing issues that had become unbearable. He had been struggling with breathing for about 7 weeks prior. He was recently in Maui where they, unfortunately, misdiagnosed him. Marin's doctors found that he was suffering from congestive heart failure, which was followed by his liver and kidneys failing. Doctors gave us a 30% chance that he would live through this. I flew out the next day to help, not knowing if he was going to make it through this extreme health crisis.

They intubated him within about 12 hours of his getting to the hospital and put him on life support to try to save him. Here at Marin Health they have a truly incredible team, which worked day and night for 2 weeks to save his life. His heart, kidneys and liver have all improved little by little daily, but they are not yet where they need to be. It will take some time and a large amount of physical rehabilitation/therapy for him to get back to "normal". He will need to be on lifelong medications to help him to function. He has a long road ahead, and we are here supporting him as best we can. With all of the people surrounding him with love, we are very hopeful.

He will need at least several months of medical support and rehabilitation. We are raising funds to help him with critical aftercare, physical therapy, rehabilitation and some personal bills, which are not covered by insurance. The most immediate and urgent need is to pay for a post-acute facility.
