Dementia Carers Respite's 2024 funding raising campaign
Dementia Respite 2024 fundraising campaign moves on to Harewood Downs Golf Day and Dinner on 26th September 2024 - more details to follow but save the date in your diaries
So far this year we have raised £1500 from the West Wycombe Chamber Choir spring concert on 23rd March. The Walk for Care and Respite from Chesham to Amersham took place on 28th April and raised well over £2000. Veronica Green-Jones produce an amazing effort in the Blenheim Palace Triathlon 2024 on June 1st / 2nd as a 'Weekend Warrior,' completing not just one triathlon, but repeating the event as many times as she could. At the moment she is on £955 so please help us get her over the £1000 mark by donating to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/veronica-jones-5
Remembering always that the funds raised are to give much needed respite to dementia family carers. Dementia is now the biggest cause of death and with seldom any NHS and/or Council support, the burden of care rests on family carers. Most are physically and mentally exhausted suffering a toxic mix of guilt and bereavement for the “loss” of a loved one.
Adding to other events in 2024 we aim to raise £15,000 to pay for 600 hours of respite to 12 families for a whole year. The respite sessions we offer are all that is needed for a family carer to come back relaxed, refreshed and ready to care again for their loved one.
The feedback we receive is very much heartfelt and full of appreciation of us and more importantly to you, our supporters /donors. Many Charities exist, doing great work but none offer what we are offering. We are dedicated to funding respite at home. A rested family carer will give better care, reducing anxiety and the need for unnecessary GP visits and NHS care. The benefit of respite must never be underestimated.
Dementia Carers Respite (DCR) is a charity providing funding for respite support to family carers of people living with dementia. Starting in Buckinghamshire we hope to go nationwide.
