Help DeMaio Girls with Funds for Anthonys Recovery

Donation protected
Keara DeMaio and her girls Vivienne (age 11) and Julia (age 9) are enduring an unimaginable crisis and an uncertain financial future as their beloved husband and father Anthony, begins the long, grueling road to recovery in the neurological ICU at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.

Anthony suffered a mild stroke on the afternoon of April 19 followed by a catastrophic stroke and brain bleed many hours later. Keara’s world was forever changed when in the middle of the night a doctor called saying that Anthony had taken a turn for the worse, the results were fatal, and it was time to gather friends, family, and their precious girls to say goodbye. That morning, Keara was the pillar of strength, assuring her girls that they would get through this together.

In the days since, the DeMaio girls have been overwhelmed with an outpouring of love, support, kind gestures, prayers, and well wishes from hundreds of friends, family, and members of their church and school communities who know and love Anthony and his larger-than-life personality.

Two weeks passed and Anthony remained in a coma with only slight signs of change. Then, a couple weeks ago, the miracle that we’d all been so desperately praying for, came to be. Anthony emerged from his coma, defying the odds and overcoming the paralysis to which the doctors said the left side of his body had succumbed.

He is moving toes and fingers on both sides, shrugging his shoulders, and most importantly comprehending what’s going on. But Anthony is not out of the woods yet. He is in the fight of his life and at the very beginning of what doctors describe as a long and hard road to recovery.

While Keara takes leave from work, spending countless hours at his bedside, she shoulders the burden of an uncertain financial future considering the significant cost of Anthony’s ongoing care and his inability to work. Please help alleviate some of her stress and consider donating what you can to the DeMaio Girls 2022 Irrevocable Trust established for the benefit of Keara and the DeMaio girls.

THANK YOU and UPDATE
I am overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of donations by so many. The love, generosity, and concern shown to our family over the past 45 days are beyond anything I could have imagined.  Every day I thank God for the support you are giving to me, Vivienne, Julia and Anthony.  Anthony has a very long road ahead of him and I have sleepless nights trying to see how to practically provide for Anthony and the girls' needs over the next year. The generosity shown here and privately by so many has brought me great peace of mind. It allows me to set a realistic plan. It shows me a path through all of this. I am truly grateful for all of these gifts. God bless you all.  I don't know what I would do without you.
Today I am hopeful that Anthony is headed to Kessler Rehabilitation Center in West Orange. It is one of the best facilities in the country.  Without the consistent prayers of so many of you, I don't believe he would have this opportunity.  The possibility of Anthony walking and talking was not even a discussion with the doctors 40 days ago.  Anthony has now voiced words when his trach is capped, and he is moving his arms, legs and sitting up with assistance. He recognizes his friends and family and shows signs of comprehension and his old personality.  Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
