About Me and the project

My name is Delores Diana Wielzen, born on Dutch soil and living on Ibiza. I have a background in Marketing Communications and Business and took a new career route, since I moved to Ibiza in 2013.

Since 2014 I have been working in Plant Based catering, offering vegan meals at retreats, events and in private homes.  As a private chef, I mainly cook from my inspiration and make my own recipes. 

Many clients have asked me why I have not published a vegan cookbook yet.
One of the reasons was, that I never wrote down my recipes. Also, I never had an idea which approach to take. Just creating a book with
pictures and a recipe did not appeal much to me. So, I left the cookbook creation on one of the shelves of my bucket list. However, after
receiving much appreciation on my culinary creations, I felt  motivated to write down and collect my recipes.  The first step was taken!  



One day, while reminiscing on the things I enjoy in life, I got clarity on which direction to go with this creative project. Since I was a child I
experienced the power of words, the way they can trigger the imagination and express feelings in a manner that touches all the senses. The 
short story is one of my favourite genres, and recently I started writing them again.

 "When Ginger meets Chili" (working title) will combine the two passions. Plant based food and Story sharing. Two aspects in life that can create a strong sensory experience. 



About the book

A fictional or partly biographical story will lead the reader towards the recipe. 
The recipes are inspired by “World Cuisine” with influences from the Surinamese, Asian and Mediterranean kitchen. The aim is to offer the reader an experience which triggers more than the taste
receptors. 

The book will be self-published in English, to serve the international book reading market.
With an aim to sell between 500 and 1000 books in the first edition.  In a second edition I look at translation in Dutch and possibly Spanish. The book will consist of 145- 210 pages, with colour pictures. 



What inspires me to write a Plant Based recipe book?

I genuinely feel that the vegan lifestyle is the lifestyle of the future. The way we perceive health in relation to food consumption and with
regards to the health of the planet and animal life is slowly changing for the better. The locomotive is in motion. . . 
I have noticed that the people I cook for are often surprised of what flavours and textures can come out of the Plant based kitchen. In the developed countries there are a lot of options to live a healthy without animal suffering. This book I see as an extension of the inspiration I wish to bring. I truly wish for people to make personal healthy lifestyle choices, with regards and compassion for all that is living. 



When will the project start?

The project is already in process, since I have started to collect and write down my recipes since the past two years. My aim is to bring out
the book before Christmas 2021.

Writing process & Photography: April, May, June, July

Editing & graphic design, marketing pre-order: August, September

Publishing & marketing final version: October, November



What will the funds be used for?

* Raw materials / dry ingredients - €550,-

* Editing & Proofreading  - €1500,-

* Marketing - €1200,-



I have had a good food processor for many year, unfortunately it broke beyond repair, and I wish to replace it soon. Also I wish to immerse myself in a focussed test cooking process to perfect the recipes. As from May / June, I plan to start working with a professional 

photographer.  Because of my background I will take on the marketing activities, the other steps in the process will be outsourced to other professionals.

The book will be written, "si o si" (Spanish for anyhow, anyway), the process has already started and my motivation is on fire. :-)
