Delleen Kompkoff, 72, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025. One of her final wishes was to establish a scholarship to support local middle and high school band students with financial assistance for funding their band equipment expenses. She saw a value in all children and assisted them in their music goals.

Delleen had a lifelong love of music that was passed on from her father, Delmar. This passion for music, along with her sewing expertise, was a natural fit with volunteering for the Gresham High School Theater Department. Delleen found joy in creating countless costumes and watching the students shine in the productions. During Delleen’s time at Hogan Cedars Elementary, she found great joy in playing the piano and writing songs for school-wide assemblies and concerts, which continued beyond her retirement.

Throughout Delleen’s life, music provided not only a creative outlet but an emotional outlet as well. She looked forward to her zero-hour band classes that provided her sanctuary during a difficult time in her life. During Delleen’s adult life, she used music to connect with children and adults at the schools where she worked. Delleen’s hope is that this scholarship will offer the same support and lifeline to students in her community who share the same connection to music as her and may need extra financial assistance to succeed in these programs.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks for memorial contributions to assist in accomplishing her wish as well as commemorate Delleen at this time. 

Her family profoundly appreciates any contributions for this, no matter how small.
