Continued Support for Dell's Family

9/3/18 Update: Dell left this earth to fly with the angels on August 11, 2018. Her spirit lives on in the wind and in the rain, and in all of us. It was a blessing and a privilege to have known her, to have loved her and to have held space in her great big heart. Her passing has left a hole in mine. She also leaves behind a family that continues to need our support. Thank you for any amount that you can give. <3
Dear Friends:
As many of you may know, our dear friend and sister, Dell, has had a rough time this past year. It’s not easy raising two teenagers on her own, especially at a time in life when she deserves to claim the reward of a simpler and easier life that doesn’t include homework, serving as taxi to sporting practices and late night theatrical rehearsals, sleepovers, and all the trials and tribulations that come with adolescence. We all know she’s done an amazing job with her wonderful grandchildren. Anyone who has met these kids can see that. But the road has not been a smooth one, especially in the last few months.
Most recently, Dell’s business, Dell on Wheels, has suffered due to a fall she took in February while working at a client’s property in NY. She managed to get back home to NC, but the damage to her hip worsened with use, and left her unable to return north to properly hire and train new staff and monitor her business. To literally add insult to injury, hobbling on crutches resulted in another fall, this time snapping her femur. Needless to say, she has been unable to effectively manage her business, and will not be able to drive or work for at least six more weeks.
The financial setback has been and continues to be devastating. Without sufficient medical insurance, Dell is facing mounting medical bills while trying to keep everything else going. She now has to leave the rental house she secured two years ago in NC, a place where they have lovingly made a home. A more affordable option is available for this small family but, unfortunately, moving costs present more expenses.
And there’s more…as many of you know, Dell’s “Sun” is facing his own medical challenges. With surgeries, medications and chronic pain, life has become difficult for him, not to mention the life-threatening event that occurred just last week. All of this has taken a toll on the entire family, most of all Dell, who is the glue that keeps everyone together.
If you know Dell at all, then you know she’s been through more in this lifetime than most people can endure and still stand up. She knows loss intimately. Yet, this wisdom charmer brightly administers her daily dose of gratitude to the rest of us who have a lot less to complain about. If you follow her posts on Face Book, you know what I’m talking about. She lifts us up. She is the first one there when you are in need. Now it’s time to return the favor.
