To start off, we know the video is bad. Our budget could not provide for professional videography.  However, we won't let that stop progress in fulfilling our mission and vision.  Talk about a lean startup!

But lets get serious for a moment.

90% of us are touched by addiction.  Does someone close to you come to mind when reading this?

 

According to the CDC, in 2020 there were more than 93,000 deaths by drug overdose in the United States alone.  This is the highest of any one-year period since the nation's opioid crisis began in the 1990's.

 

We all know there is a huge problem. The question is, how can we help?

 

Johann Hari, world renown journalist and author of Lost Connections and Chasing the Scream, traveled the world to find answers and shared what he found on a TED talk. He found that the opposite of addiction is not so much sobriety; it is meaningful connections.

This inspired us to do extensive research to discover ways loved ones can connect with patients in treatment, while maintaining healthy boundaries. Our study discovered that care packages were the best way to receive support outside of treatment. 

Here is the problem. 

Family members want to show support, but often don't know how. Treatment centers get care packages periodically, but unfortunately they have to open the packages to see if there is anything triggering or counterproductive in facilitating recovery.  Families and patients then feel hurt or angry that their package was opened and items confiscated. 

Here is the other problem; over 50% of people going through recovery do not have support beyond the treatment center.  Support outside of rehab is essential for recovery.

This is where we come in. 

The12thStep platform solves both these problems. Our partnerships with treatment facilities insure items fit policies, procedures and treatment plans.  Any delivery from The12thStep will only be opened by the recipient.  This is huge! 

To solve the other problem, our platform will provide those practicing the 12th steps an opportunity to share this message of hope with people going through recovery who do not currently have support from outside the treatment center.
