A Campaign to Place a World-Class Service Dog with a Deserving Veteran or First Responder
South Garden Service Dogs · Kevin A. Lanouette
Our Mission
We don't just train service dogs. We save lives. South Garden Service Dogs is raising funds to make one of those partnerships possible for a veteran or first responder who has given everything in service to others. Your support will bring Kane zur Bindenburg together with a partner. He was born
Meet Kane zur Bindenburg
Born December 28, 2023, Kane is a two-year-old German Shepherd from elite bloodlines — and from his very first days, it was clear he was destined for something greater.
As a puppy, he took to crate training, scent work, and tracking with remarkable ease. By six months, he had mastered precision obedience commands in German. By twelve months, he was working reliably off-leash, capable of guarding, and fully composed in public environments.
Kane’s training has continued to evolve. He now specializes in mobility support — helping handlers maintain balance, assisting them in standing, and alerting others when needed. His skills aren’t rigid; they’re built to adapt to each individual partner’s life and needs.
Kane’s Full Scope of Work
• Advanced obedience (commands in German and English)
• Mobility assistance — balance support, helping handlers stand
• Public access behavior — composed in all environments
• Home integration and daily life partnership
• Alerting others in emergencies
The Placement Process
Once a recipient is chosen, Kane and his new partner will bond over one to two weeks of hands-on training. This period includes personalized home setup guidance and the foundation of what will become a lifelong working relationship. South Garden Service Dogs provides ongoing tailored support well beyond the initial placement — because we believe the partnership doesn’t end at handoff; it’s just beginning.
Funding Goal: $33,000 Over Kane's first 24 Months of age.
This campaign covers every stage of Kane’s journey — from advanced training and nutrition to lifetime follow-up support. The investment is structured over 24 months, averaging $1,375 per month, ensuring no aspect of Kane’s preparation or his partner’s long-term success is left unfunded.

P.S.
Dear Sir/ Ma’am,
My name is Kane and I was born December 28, 2023. I’m a true German-German Shepherd bred and raised at the South Garden Service Dogs facility from elite bloodlines. My bloodlines can be traced back to World Champion German Shepherds originating from Germany which is why my colors, body, and intelligence are far more striking than my distant cousins from across the pond in the U.S. you may be accustomed with.
Kevin, my awesome trainer, is about to outline my training and how that translates to becoming the best Service Dog to a veteran I can be. I have already been awarded my BH certification. “BH” stands for Begleithundprufung in German, translating to “traffic-sure companion dog test.” The BH test evaluates my obedience and temperament. It is also known as a Companion dog title and includes things like on and off leash heeling, recalls, basic commands, and some real-life situations in a public traffic evaluation and environment.
I am eager to be placed with a veteran who needs my service and love. Every day a needing veteran goes without a Service Dog is a bad day so please help a deserving veteran.
