FUNDRAISER TO SUPPORT STEVE ZIMMERMANN AND LEELA KLEIN
Hit and Run accident 1st April 2021 - Link to News report
On Thursday 1st April 2021, Steve Zimmermann was deliberate, struck from his cycle as he was coming home from work, by a 50 year old driver in a fit of road rage. This wonderful young man never stood a chance. He was flown by the RFDS to Perth, where he underwent emergency surgery on his neck for broken vertebrae's.
Steve and his fiancée Leela are backpacking around Australia originally from Germany. This is a terrible injustice to these 2 wonderful people who have done nothing wrong, they were due to be married early next month.
Steve's prognosis for walking again is very poor, however their spiritual beliefs, and physical strength is huge, and they themselves believe Steve will walk again.
Being in a foreign country, can be very frightening, and made ten fold worse due to the current pandemic.
Steve's family are not able to travel to Australia to be with their beloved son and Leela's family can not come to support her when she needs support most.
While traveling in Carnarvon, during COVID-19 lockdown, they met Mary from SAFE Carnarvon, and were a HUGE support to SAFE, the animals of Carnarvon and branch Coordinator Mary. So it is now our time to give back to this amazing couple.
They do not deserve what has happened to them, they are so kind and generous, and we are hoping that the community will help us support them.
EVERY dollar raised from the fundraiser will go to Steve and Leela to help cover ongoing medical and immediate day to day expenses.
As we get updates from the medical team, the overall total $'s needed may change.
