Please help us respond to the emergency situation that is unfolding for Haitian migrants on the southern border. As of now, many Haitians detained at the border have now been released, and we need your help to assist them in court.
CCLS is asking for your help to provide crucial assistance to newly arrived Haitian refugees on the border through the provision of the following services:
*Presenting “Know Your Rights” info sessions, hosted in-person by our team of Creole-speaking legal staff
*Conducting individual intakes and legal screenings
*Connecting Haitian refugees with pro bono legal assistance in their area
*Preparation of pro se application for relief from deportation
In the long run, the biggest need will be here, at home – Most of those released migrants WILL be resettled in South Florida. To adapt to this new demand in services, CCLS will need to bring on board more Creole-speaking attorneys and legal staff to respond to the increased demand for critical services and thoughtful legal representation.
