Del needs emergency funds for housing.
Donation protected
Hi. I’m Del. I am an author, teacher, spirit worker, and advocate .I am disabled, both physically and mentally. On 4/19, I was abandoned at a hospital without my motor wheelchair. It was my sister’s generosity that has kept me from homelessness, but that spectre is still present. I’m in a hotel currently, but that isn’t financially viable for an undetermined amount of time. I do have one of my chairs now (the one that needs repair, but it works).
My sister will testify that every single day I’ve been here, I have been working diligently to try to find assistance. Emails, phone calls, visits in person. I am not waiting around for others to solve my problems. Social Services can’t help me until I establish residency in the county I’m in, which takes 30 days. I’m on day five.
I was left with about $40 cash, a mostly empty bank account, and a rag tag collection of items that I was brought from my previous home. I only have one pair of pants and one pair of leggings.. I had to buy socks, a hairbrush, and other hygenic items. (But I’m all up on micro USB chargers, for some reason, especially since I don’t use them.)
I did not want to ask for this. I know I did this back in 2013, and I had told myself that it was one and done. There were many times I was in the midst of an emergency, and immediately ruled out crowdfunding. But the requests to do this are real. I’m ashamed it has come to this, truly. I’m ashamed of how this all fell out. I’m ashamed that I was not in control of my bank account before I was abandoned. But here I am now.
Current expenses are hotel room (approx $80/night), food, thrift clothes, OTC meds, etc. I will also need something to put towards first/last/deposit should I find a place to live. Even fifty cents could make a difference here.
Thank you for reading all of this, and please consider a small donation towards getting me back on my wheels! (Get it? Instead of feet?)
