On the evening of Thursday May 23, my daughter's fiancé Steven Johannesen was burning waste in a burn barrel at the ranch where he works and lives. The barrel exploded, catching him on fire. He was able to eventually sprint to a water trough to put out the fire but he was left badly burned. His small town in Montana was not equipped to deal with burns of that nature so he was airlifted to a facility in Salt Lake City. Steven suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 55% of his body. He is in the process of undergoing a series of operations. His recovery will be a long journey. As Steven is a cattle rancher, it will be many months before he will be able to return to his job and at this point we do not know at what capacity that will be. Steven has three children from his previous marriage and one on the way with my daughter Kate. I have donated to many Go Fund Me requests but until now I have never had to write one myself. Steven and Kate are facing tremendous medical and living expenses while he is going through recovery. Any amount of financial assistance you could provide would be truly appreciated. Every bit will help them survive until Steven can get back to work. Steven is a really good person who is a great father and he has been nothing but wonderful to my daughter Kate. Thank you ahead of time for your thoughts and concerns. If you could pass this on to others, we would be extremely grateful.
