Hallo!

Mein Name ist Melissa und ich bin Tanzkünstlerin, Choreografin und Tanzpädagogin und lebe in Berlin.

Trotz der schwierigen Zeiten für Kunst und Kultur in der Pandemie - oder gerade deswegen - bin ich gerade dabei, einen Kreationsprozess zu starten. Gemeinsam mit zwei wunderbaren Künstlerinnen. Breeanne Saxton und Alica Minar. Ich habe schon lange davon geträumt, ein Tanzsolo zu kreieren, in dem ich mich mit der schwedischen Malerin Hilma af Klint auseinandersetze und im Stück in einen tänzerischen Dialog mit ihr trete. Das Stück beschäftigt sich zum einen mit Hilma als Person und zum anderen mit dem Inhalt ihrer Werke. Es geht also über die Kunstgattungen hinaus. Sie als Person und ihre Werke faszinieren mich sehr und ich denke, ihre Arbeit ist heute sehr relevant - gerade jetzt, in unsicheren Zeiten, in denen Transformation und Entwicklung entscheidend für eine nachhaltige Welt sind. Hilma war eine starke Frau und ihrer Zeit voraus.

In ihren Bildern interpretiert sie die Welt und stellt Dinge, die sie wahrnimmt, mit ihrer hohen Sensibilität dar und eröffnet damit Dimensionen, die die Norm herausfordern und neue Sichtweisen auf die Welt eröffnen. Auch heute gibt es möglicherweise neue Wege des Lebens, Handelns und Schaffens. Das möchte ich in diesem Solo erforschen, und inwieweit ich als Tänzerin ihre Kunst in meinen Körper übersetzen kann.

In Hilmas Werken kann ich Codes des menschlichen Lebens und der generellen Existenz erkennen. "In ihrer ausgeprägten Gabe, in Anfängen zu denken, liegt die Kraft ihrer Werke. Ihr Schaffen, daran glaubte sie fest, sollte uns dabei helfen, alles, was die Welt unnötig klein macht, hinter uns zu lassen. Eingefahrene Denkmuster und starre Ordnungssysteme gehörten für af Klint ebenso dazu wie die Kategorien von Geschlecht und Klasse, Materialismus und Kapitalismus, die Vorstellung von einem Morgen- und Abendland und die Trennung von Kunst und Leben. Auf ihren Leinwänden geraten die Formen in Bewegung, und die Gegensätze vereinigen sich.

Widersprüche brachte af Klint auch selbst zusammen: Sie, die bis ins hohe Alter in einfachsten Verhältnissen lebte und arbeitete, schätzte den Fortschritt, ging ins Kino, las Jack London und liebte Frauen. Gleichzeitig vertiefte sie sich in die alten Schriften von Mystikern und hörte ihr Leben lang Stimmen, die aus anderen Dimensionen zu ihr sprachen. Mit ihrer Kunst, so verstand die Malerin ihre Rolle, gab sie die Geschenke weiter, die sie selbst erhalten hatte. Die Freude daran, die Welt größer zu machen. Und die Lust, neu anzufangen." - Julia Voss

Die Welt größer machen. Die Lust, neu anzufangen. Das Aufheben der Trennung von Kunst und Leben. Die Systemrelevanz der Kunst aufzeigen. Dies beschreibt für mich mein künstlerisches Interesse an dem Solo. Ich möchte zusammen mit Breeanne und Alica  erarbeiten, inwiefern ich Hilmas Werke als Grundlage für eine tänzerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem gegenwärtigen Zeitgeist nehmen kann und mich als Tänzerin mit der Person Hilma af Klint verbinden und ihre Biografie als zugrundeliegendes Recherchematerial nehmen kann. In der Recherche werden ihre (zum Teil sehr mathematischen) Methoden zu malen, als Grundlage für den choreografischen Aufbau des Stücks dienen können.

Breeanne, Alica und ich werden dieses Solo zusammen kreieren. Wir werden also ein starkes, nicht hierarchisches Team sein, das auf jeden Fall unterstützenswert ist. Wir haben ein hohes Ziel. 12 000 Euro.

Das wird all unsere Kosten in den 10 Wochen der Planung, der Proben, der Reisen und der Aufenthalte an verschiedenen Orten, wie Residenzen, decken. Mit Eurer Unterstützung kann ich faire Gagen, Reisekosten, Raummiete, Kostüm, Bühnenbild etc. bezahlen. Das Stück soll in den kommenden Monaten international touren und auf diversen Festivals und Bühnen zu sehen sein. Eine Zusammenarbeit mit der Fondation Hilma af Klint ist in Planung. Hello!

My name is Melissa and I am a dance artist, choreographer and dance pedagogue living in Berlin.

Despite the difficult times for art and culture in the pandemic - or because of it - I am just about to start a creation process. Together with two wonderful artists. Breeanne Saxton and Alica Minar. I have long dreamed of creating a dance solo in which I engage with the Swedish painter Hilma af Klint and enter into a dancing dialogue with her. So the piece deals with Hilma as a person on the one hand and on the other hand with the content of her works. It transcends art genres. She as a person and her works fascinate me very much and I think her work is very relevant today - especially in these times in which transformation and development are crucial for a sustainable world.

Hilma was a strong woman and ahead of her time. In her paintings she interprets the world and depicts things she perceives with her high sensitivity, opening up dimensions that challenge the norm and open up new ways of looking at the world. Even today, there may be potential for new ways of living, acting and creating. This is what I would like to explore in this solo, and to what extent I as a dancer can translate her art into my body.

In Hilma's works I can recognize codes of human life and general existence. "In her distinct gift of thinking in beginnings lies the power of her works. Her creative work, she firmly believed, should help us leave behind everything that makes the world unnecessarily small. For af Klint, entrenched thought patterns and rigid systems of order were as much a part of this as the categories of gender and class, materialism and capitalism, the notion of a first and third world, and the separation of art and life. On her canvases, forms start to move and opposites unite.

Contradictions also brought af Klint herself together: She, who lived and worked in the simplest of circumstances until old age, appreciated progress, went to the movies, read Jack London, and loved women. At the same time, she immersed herself in the ancient writings of mystics and listened throughout her life to voices that spoke to her from other dimensions. Through her art, as the painter understood her role, she passed on the gifts she herself had received. The joy of making the world bigger. And the desire to start anew." - Julia Voss

Making the world bigger. The desire to start anew. Ovecoming the separation of art and life. Pointing out the systemic relevance of art. For me, this describes my artistic interest in the solo. I would like to work out together with Breeanne and Alica to what extent I can take Hilma's works as a basis for a dance examination of the current zeitgeist and connect myself as a dancer with the person Hilma af Klint and take her biography as underlying research material. In the research, her methods of painting (some of them very mathematical) will be able to serve as a basis for the choreographic structure of the piece.


Breeanne, Alica  and I will create the piece together. So we will be a strong non hierarchical team which is definitely worth supporting. We have a high goal, 12 000 Euros.
This will cover all our costs in 10 weeks of planning, rehearsing, traveling and being in different places, like residencies. The piece will tour internationally in the coming months and be seen at various festivals and stages. A collaboration with the Fondation Hilma af Klint is being planned.
