Deidre Lacey’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected
On the afternoon of June 18, after leaving her oldest granddaughters graduation cookout, Deidre Lacey suffered a hemorrhagic stroke at the age of 62. Thanks to the quick thinking of her husband, Keith Lacey, she was rushed to Pottstown Hospital and then medevaced to Reading Hospital where she had to undergo an emergency craniotomy. After being on a ventilator for nearly two weeks, she received a tracheotomy and we are blessed and thankful to be able to say that she is finally out of the ICU. However, her process to recovery has just begun. She is still hospitalized and has developed bronchitis. The doctors have also identified an aneurysm that will need to be assessed.

During this time, Keith has been by her side every single day. Keith and Deirdre were high school sweethearts so you can imagine the toll that this is taking on him emotionally. Financially, Keith has lost time at work and therefore has not been receiving any wages due to having to be at the hospital supporting his wife of over 30 years.

Unfortunately, their insurance has not yet approved a rehab facility and bills continue to pile up at home. Deidre will not be able to work and will need to receive ongoing care even after leaving the hospital. She will need to stay at a rehab facility to learn how to eat, walk and talk again. We do not know how long this process will take and the cost of this long term care for stroke patients is expensive to say the least.

We are doing all we can but would appreciate any help from family, friends and anyone who has it on their heart to give. Please continue to pray for a full recovery for Deidre and for strength and comfort to her family, especially Keith, as they navigate this new and unfamiliar territory.
