Hello, friends!
This is Ser Davos Seawoof. He's just smart enough to be very, very stupid.
We've been fighting with him over his capability to break into anything food-related for many years, and it's finally caught up with him.
No joke: our kitchen trash is behind a steel baby gate, in a locking trash can with bricks in the bottom, because he's clever and fast and when all else fails, he learned to body-slam the trash can to knock it over. We've finally gotten things set up so he (hopefully, omg) won't get into the garbage anymore, but he's been losing weight and apparently having quite a bit of discomfort for weeks now. At first we thought his back was hurting him bc he was prayer-posing (big stretch!) & didn't want to eat from a bowl on the floor, but a raised feeder seemed to fix the issue. Once we realized there was An Issue and thought we had a theory on what was wrong, we took him to the vet.
Two x-rays, a bunch of blood work, and an ultrasound later, he's currently in surgery to have Foreign Objects removed from his stomach.
We are a total of ~$8500 in the hole on this. That's:
$1250 - initial vet assessment and 2 x-rays
$250 - meds and blood work
$1000 - ultrasound
$6000 - surgery, overnight observation
I'll post bills once I get them all scanned in.
If you have donated through other channels before I got this all set up, I have entered those totals as a single offline donation to keep the totals clear.
Thank you so much for whatever help you can give.
