DefyingDiabetesT1 - Conquering London Marathon 24
My journey to Conquer the London Marathon 2024 with Type 1 Diabetes.
My story begins with a life-altering diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in September 2022 just 3 days after my 22nd Birthday. Following being really poorly for over a month and consistently being ignored. I was then rushed to hospital on the 29th September 2022 straight from a nightshift.
It was a turning point that brought about a wave of emotions, fear, and uncertainty for me. However, I refused to let it define me. Determined to control my own narrative, I embarked on a journey of self-education, learning about diabetes management, and discovering ways to lead a fulfilling life while staying healthy.
Before this diagnosis I was very ignorant to the different types of diabetes as well as thinking something like this could ever happen to me. A fit and healthy young female living her best life at 22.
I found myself facing a unique challenge: living with type 1 diabetes. Rather than letting it hinder my spirit, I turned it into fuel for my aspirations. The desire to make a difference in the lives of others who shared my condition led me to register for the prestigious London Marathon in 2024.
With each step I take, I aim to raise awareness and funds for JDRF, a charity close to my heart.
JDRF is a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I found solace in the stories of individuals who, despite the challenges, managed to thrive.
This is going to be a huge challenge for myself but I’m so excited for the journey and learning more about my condition as each day goes by.
However big or small I appreciate all donations.
Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.
