Defying the Odds: Matt Klotz's Journey to the Deaflympics
Donation protected
Please support Matt Klotz on his journey to the Deaflympics in Tokyo this November 2025. Matt has been sharing his story across the country to be an inspiration to others facing obstacles and not letting a disability define them.
Many of you know him as "Matty Ice" from Big Brother, where he was the first-ever deaf contestant to compete and shared about his struggles growing up. He spent years having people tell him he would never succeed in the classroom. Swimming became his focus and motivation in a world where he did not believe in himself because others didn't.
He never gave up and earned his BS in Kinesiology from LSU, where he swam as a D1 athlete. He has competed many times in USA Nationals, USA Olympic Trials, and the Deaflympics representing Team USA. He is setting his goals for his 4th Deaflympic meet and hoping to top his medal count and become the most decorated deaf athlete in world history. Along the way, he has set many World Records, Deaflympic Records, and even set the record for the most medals ever won in one Deaflympics.
Unfortunately, USA deaf athletes do not receive funding support like the USA Olympic and Paralympic teams do, so he is asking for support. The trip will cost approx. 10K in fees, training, equipment, and travel expenses. Your support in helping him reach his dreams is much appreciated. If you prefer to donate for a tax-deductible expense, donations can be made to https://www.mightycause.com/story/.Usadeafswimming and please ADD IN THE NOTES: "IN HONOR OF MATT KLOTZ" so he receives the funding support.
We truly appreciate all of you!! Thanks for following his journey.
