The Yukon Wildlife Preserve (YWP) remains committed to the highest standards of animal care. As a non-for-profit organization we have through the years been able to make a positive impact on many lives, human and animal, and we hope to always continue to have the opportunity to do so. Continued support from donors like you helps YWP ensure our core values are met!
On April 20th, 2014 Yukon Wildlife Preserve received an unknown infant animal. This animal was found in the Marsh lake area, Yukon Territory Canada by a member of the public who assumed it was a young domestic puppy. After suspecting wild origins, the 'mystery puppy' was brought to YWP to provide care. Nobody ever imagined the fame that would come to this small creature in support and interest to discovering the identity and the fate of the animal. As the young pup grew it developed into its fox like features and was confirmed a month after its arrival it was indeed a Red Fox.
Current infrastructure at YWP lacks an enclosure suitable for the red fox to continue providing the best quality of life as he grows. We need your help! Consider donating to help us reach our time-sensitive goal of $10,000 by the end of August.
A new fox enclosure at YWP will have a total cost of about $20,000. Materials total $15,000 and labour $5,000. The staff at the YWP are dedicated to making this goal a reality by donating their time to construct the large enclosure. This volunteer time offered by YWP staff will cover the labour costs. We need your donations to help ensure the Red Fox stays on-site and in the Yukon. Materials needed includes fencing, posts, electrical wire, Lexan viewing window, standoff barrier, gates, landscaping interior, interpretive panel, sponsorship & volunteer recognition, these items consist of the $15,000 cost.

From his infancy the fox has tugged at the heart-strings of the community and people across North America. Only with donations from you and reaching our target of $10,000 will the fox be able to stay with us at YWP where he can live out his life in a large exhibit with natural enrichments opportunities including: climbing, digging, and hunting (small mammals naturally occurring in the enclosure). Helping us reach this goal will allow the YWP to continue using his positive story to generate awareness to visitors near and far. If the goal is not raised by the deadline the fox will go to a home in an Ontario facility and the funds will go along with him.
