Defibrillators for Schools #SSPPthebeatgoeson
Do you want to join us in making a difference in our local community? We are raising money for THE OLIVER KING FOUNDATION to fund a defibrillator, training and a community access box for our school and the local community. Every donation will help us achieve this aim. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to the pupils of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Primary Academy.
Last year, when pupils saw Cristian Eriksen need life-saving treatment and a defibrillator during the Euros, a pupil in Year 6 asked if we could raise money to have access to the kit in our community. He and his classmates went on to research how long it took it to sprint to the nearest defib, how much it costs to provide one, and they started a whole school campaign to get community support and raise awareness about the fact that not all schools have a defibrillator. Year 6 wrote to their local MP, they wrote to the Education Secretary, they had a question raised by their MP in Prime Minister's questions.
When Year 6 moved on to secondary school, they asked the Principal to keep the campaign going. Now we are raising money to secure our own kit and hopefully fund at least one other defib for another school in our great city. Imagine the impact if we can do even better than that!
Pupils will all be running for sponsorship at our local athletics track and at school. Staff, parents and friends of the school are also running the first Wolverhampton 10k on Sunday 27th March 2022 to raise money for our campaign #SSPPthebeatgoeson.
Our ultimate aim is to raise awareness and support for defibrillators for schools - it would be amazing to see all schools have the life-saving kit on-site. There is no better foundation to supply them than the Oliver King Foundation.
Help us achieve the aims of #SSPPthebeatgoeson
