On Wednesday, July 20th 2022, what was supposed to be a fun, birthday celebration  for this family turned into a horrific, traumatic event at Deep River Water Park (in Crown Point, Indiana)

**Trigger warning**

As seen in the video, 2 Black young adults, male and female (a couple, both 20 years of age) were exiting the water park when security officers stopped and WRONGFULLY ACCUSED them of being involved in a physical altercation with a lifeguard. Without question, the couple was attacked, beaten,  and threatened by the police and thereafter arrested.

Meanwhile, the rest of the family, unaware,  waited for the young couple to meet them back at the car. The young adult male , being abused and frightened,  cried out for his mother. Witnesses rushed to find, and notify his mother about the situation.

The Mother was found almost immediately. The Mother then instructed her other children, 2 teens, male and female (both 16 years of age), to stay in the car with their younger sister (6 years of age), while she checked to see what was happening.

Surrounding witnesses out of concern and fear, tried to intervene. The mother, distraught, finds her son being abused and arrested by police. The unlawful interaction escalated and the Mother is also physically assaulted and arrested.

While this is happening, the police locate the family's vehicle, and without probable cause FORCED and  DRAGGED the teens out of the car. With guns pointed at them, canine dogs attacking them, and continued mistreatment, the teens were arrested.

Their 6 year old sibling witnessed the arrest.  The 6 year old was left with her father, while her family was unjustly being taken away. More than 18 hours later the teens had no contact with their family, the mother and 2 young adults were bailed out of jail.

The mother still had no idea where police took her teen children and couldn't get any answers from anyone.

On Friday, July 22nd 2022, a meeting was held and the Lake County Juvenile Center refused to release the minors to their mother and are currently holding them in custody on false charges!

As of July 25th 2022, the 2 teenagers are STILL being held in custody and have not been home with their family. The mental distress  and agony they are experiencing in this time is beyond comprehension. The immense amount of trauma they are experiencing can't be erased, but with your help, the weight of the financial burden can be lifted.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department will be held accountable for their actions for the mistreatment and abuse of this family!

We are humbly asking for the support of the community to help this family fund this case. All of the money raised will help cover legal fees of each family member.

If you cannot give a monetary donation you can show support by sharing this GoFundMe with everyone you know.

Please spread awareness of this injustice. Together we can help this family get the justice they deserve!
