Defending Ben Neel

We are raising funds to help Ben Neel in his efforts to fight his wrongful termination by NYU Langone as Director of the Perlmutter Cancer Center. His legal filing on Thursday contends that the decision not to rehire him is unfair - after his NYU colleague suspended for related reasons appeared to get his job back.

Ben is one of the nation's most accomplished cancer researchers and doctors, and has led the Cancer Center at NYU to great things. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and and is responsible for many key discoveries.

In 2023, Ben was fired as Cancer Center Director at NYU Langone over re-tweets of others' cartoons pertaining to the Israel-Hamas war on his personal X/Twitter account. Whatever you think of the Tweets, and the war, Ben's views were on his own personal account with a clear statement that 'Tweets are my own'. He should not lose his job over this - especially when one considers how good he is. See here for example coverage:

Ben has no option but to sue NYU, and we should support him in the expensive process of defending this position on what is becoming an ever more slippery slope. Please help.
