We are not confused: this is a political trial that only held this level of consequence because of their transness. Despite that the location is a known and popular skinny dipping spot since the 1960s, park rangers arrived immediately escalated with threats of violence. Every step of this ordeal, from being secretly photographed and snitched on, charged with multiple crimes, their experience of transphobia in court, and the lasting trauma of the criminalization of the body, has been emotionally and financially exhausting. Their livelihoods are at risk from these charges, which could impact their employability, future housing, and mobility at borders.

Don't let the state win, and push our friends out of their own lives! We are raising funds for their lawyers, court fees, and associated costs from the logistical and emotional impact of this trial. Our friends are community builders and organizers who have done lots to provide for the safety and wellbeing of trans people. They must remain anonymous due to the ongoing impact of this conviction.
