Please help our daughter, Shania Sapp, avoid being wrongfully convicted like Marissa Alexander! She has a very similar situation where she was defending herself in a domestic situation from an abusive partner. In the State of Florida, she is facing a 20-year mandatory sentence for Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Shania is a great young adult (26) who has never before been in any type of trouble. She's caring and nurturing to a fault. She's a high school graduate with a few college credits and had just completed CDL school (which is where she met the gentleman). She had to endure abuse in the Hamilton County Jail for six months until we were able to get her bonded out. The abuse came from the fact that Jasper is a small city where everyone knows everyone and already had an opinion about the "big city girl". The abuses she had to endure included having her nose septum cut out by force, having to neglect her diet of at least 10 years where she doesn't eat meat, getting slammed against the wall by officers and/or sprayed with OC spray for not knowing the rules, constantly being threatened with violence by corrections officers, being placed in solitary for 30-45 days for not knowing the rules and not being given a rule book until after the fact, and eventually having the Lieutenant break down crying and apologize to her for her treatment. At her first appearance the State Prosecutor made an unproven accusation that she sent a message to the gentleman threatening him while she was in custody. To which the question was asked by her representing attorney of "how"? The State Prosecutor had no answer, but the Judge took his word for it with no proof or explanation.

Please help us assist Shania in avoiding a conviction similar to Marissa Alexander as she does not deserve this. Florida is a stand your ground State and you are allowed to defend yourself.
