AHNEE, BOOZHO : My name is Kenneth Raymond Albert . I am asking you the people ,to help me in defending the people's right to send off our love ones in a manner that is in keeping with the immediate families wishes. My mother died last year and it was her wish to be cremated through ceremony . That is what we did , the funeral home was helpful even though they did not make much money on my mothers celebration of life. We asked a elder to help us pick a tree and did ceremony thanking the tree for its sacrifice. Harvested the tree milled it ourselves built her casket, we did the transportation ourselves. And after the four days of ceremony we cremated my mother on our land. It was a beautiful ceremony well attended by many spiritual people of many faiths and lodges native and non native alike. Totally in keeping with my mothers wishes. And the immediate family. However the crown and the government of Canada and it's agents though different. I was charged , my wife at the time and the elder that lead the ceremony. The crown has since dropped the charges against them ,however has decided to proceed with me. My trial is scheduled for November this fall. I am seeking support for my defense the financial hardship has been challenging. For because of these charges my income has dried up. For after the ceremony l was banished from my home and could not continue fishing as l was a commercial fishermen denied access to our traditional fishing grounds. And most of my work as a ceremony facilitator dried up because of the controversy. I am asking for donations to help with my lawyers fees .
