Preserve and Protect Gambel Field

Petulant Lying Neighbor
Intrusive Government “Regulations”
Obscene Fees

Gambel Field supporters we need your help! Our vision of having Gambel Field as a gathering place for dog events, family gatherings, community activities and music events is in jeopardy. We have to ask the County for a Special Use Permit in order to continue using our own land as we envision. This is time consuming and expensive. Mark and I are asking for your help. We have set our goal based on the estimated costs of the fees Maricopa County has listed, but we won’t have the exact numbers until further into the process. If we raise more funds than our goal amount, any extra will go towards planting more trees and fence line improvements. If your business or group would like to be recognized as a donor, please reach out to us. We have plenty of fence line to hang banners as a thank you for your support.
Fees include:
FEES:
A. Planning Review Fee Special Use Permit $3,000 + $100/acre or portion thereof ($50,000 max.) $4,500
B. Drainage Review Fee Special Use Permit $1,000 +$500 per acre or portion thereof ($11,000 max.) $8,500
C. Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Review Fee $250.
D. Maricopa County Environmental Services Department (MCESD) Review Fee $225.
E. Addressing Review Fee of $10 to verify an existing address or $50 to assign an Address
We will also have to pay for publication of hearings, conduct “community outreach” (send letters, rent space for and hold meetings, publish notice, etc.) and put up large “notice” signs. It is my belief that because of the neighbor dispute we will need a survey also. We estimate these costs to be about $3,000.
Grand total: $16,525.00 (approximately) We do not know if we will be required to get a “floodplain use permit”.

How this problem started:
As many of you know we had the Hassayampa Music Festival last year. But what you probably don’ t know about is the neighbor “drama” that happen and now is threatening Gambel Field going forward.
Originally, Mark and I asked our neighbors (he is a very good musician, and she is an awesome artist) if they would like to help us with the planning of the Hassayampa Music Festival. We had already begun planning before bringing them on board. Our goal was to combine talents to make things easier. They were super excited to join us. Little did we know then, that their intention was to take over.
Well, I (Jane) made them mad. According to them I wouldn’t “stay in my own lane” and I am a “bad team player”. All because I would not let them (the neighbors) push me around and tell me what I could and could not do on our own property or with our own money. They got mad and choose to quit. They immediately started spreading rumors and lies about us and Gambel Field. They believed that without them we would cancel the music festival. We did not. The festival was wonderful, even if the attendance was not what we had hoped. We thought with time the disagreement would blow over and they would move on. They are now making up lies and filing complaints with the County about Gambel Field. Of course, we will vigorously defend against these lies and will no longer remain silent about the issues with this neighboring property. Make no mistake, we will prevail, but we do need a little help. (We would love to build a wall along the current fence line to further limit these obnoxious and scourge neighbors.)
