Help Greenwood Heights Defend Fair Share
Greenwood Heights Association, Sunset Part, is an all-volunteer community group committed to organizing residents around key local issues.
We are raising funds to support our pro se lawsuit against the City of New York regarding the proposed 200-bed men’s shelter at 225 25th Street.
Fourteen neighbors filed this case ourselves, without lawyers, because every ordinary channel failed. We wrote to the City. We attended meetings. We raised serious Fair Share concerns. We asked for transparency. We asked, simply, that the City follow its own rules.
This is a David and Goliath fight. The City, DSS, the shelter industry, the developer, and their cronies have money, power, and lawyers. We have organized neighbors, facts, and the will to fight back.
This lawsuit is not about opposing shelter or turning away people in need. It is about fairness, legality, transparency, and planning. Our area already carries an extreme concentration of shelters and other high-impact facilities. Fair Share exists to prevent exactly this kind of overconcentration.
Funds raised will support legal assistance, filing fees, document preparation, outreach, printing, and organization. If any funds remain after this effort, they will be used for community work by Greenwood Heights Association, Inc.
Please donate if you can. Every contribution helps us defend Fair Share and hold the City accountable.
