For the past five years, Burks Brothers Brewery & Taproom has been dedicated to providing our hometown with a safe, fairly priced, and fun place to relax, visit, and enjoy great drinks and music. As a small, family-run business, we have always focused on building a welcoming space for our community, and we are grateful for the wonderful customers who have supported us along the way.


Recently, we have been drawn into a media frenzy after false, misleading, and exaggerated claims were posted about us on an online news site. These accusations have not only affected us as individuals and as a family, but have also had a negative impact on our business. The stress and uncertainty have even started to seep into our regular jobs, which help sustain the brewery. Legal action to fight these false accusations and coverage is not cheap, and as a small business that is finally getting on its feet, these unexpected expenses are a heavy burden.


Being entangled in a legal battle over defamation was never our intention. But right is right and wrong is wrong. We can't simply sit back and let false information be spread about our family and business. We have already put a significant amount of our own money into starting this fight—and we'll continue to put our own funds towards this—but it will be more than difficult for us to finish this on our own. Our goal is not to make money on this project. Our goal is simply to be able to adequately defend our name and business in what could be a protracted legal battle.
