Defeat POTS, a Blood Circulation Disorder
Donation protected
Bonnie and Larry Weissman and Don and Bob Schindelholz are helping a family member in LaGrange Ga.
The Smiths are a wonderful family, that face great uncertainty, due to medical bills that have spiraled out of control. We are raising money on behalf of our cousin Madyson Smith. Madyson’s Father is a Sergeant in the Troup County Sheriff’s office, and her Mother is a 3rd Grade teacher. As such they are frontline, essential workers at a difficult time. We are requesting your consideration and support.
Madyson (15 years old) has been diagnosed with POTS Syndrome. POTS syndrome is a Blood Circulation disorder. It involves the autonomic nervous system (which automatically controls and regulates vital bodily functions) and sympathetic nervous system (which activates the fight or flight response).
POTS manifests itself with any number of symptoms effecting the bodies organs. Madyson's symptoms have included: blurred vision, fainting spells, dizziness, extreme fatigue, diarrhea, severe constipation, belly pain, nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety, depression, hot sweats, cold sweats, chills, tremors, purple/blue legs and arms, racing heart, spikes and dips in blood pressure, flushing of head, neck and chest. At times Madyson experiences many of these symptoms simultaneously.
Madyson has visited several medical specialists to treat various symptoms over the course of her young life. She has been hospitalized several times with countless emergency room visits. Prior to being diagnosed with POTS, Madyson was treated by individual Doctors according to their specialization.
The family has identified a POTS Treatment Facility in Texas. The POTSCare Center The POTSCare Center was formed by two physicians who suffer from the syndrome. They develop a “Team” approach whereby they aggregate all of Madyson's medical history, schedule interviews with her past doctors and develop a Patient Centered focus for treatment. They organize as a central point of contact for all of the physicians and treatment plans. The goal is to identify the underlying causes of the symptoms. POTSCare has a very impressive success rate. Cost = $9000.00 to start the process. None of this is covered by insurance.

The Need:
Madyson's family has endured several emotional and financial setbacks due to the costs of her medical treatment. The family is now burdened with maxed-out credit cards for medication expenses, copays, several hospital stays, traveling expenses, counseling expenses and more, as a result of doing all they can for Madyson. In addition, she has missed school for extended periods of time.
The Family has covered their deductibles for the year, but need to pay the on-going 20%, that the insurance will not cover. We would like to raise $30,000 dollars. The first $9000.00 raised will be used to enroll Madyson with The POTSCare program, the remainder will be used to pay some of the past and future medical bills.
Thank you for your consideration. Our goal is to have Madyson enrolled at POTSCare by the end of August and have a plan developed for her as soon as possible in order to provide the family with some peace of mind and Madyson with a foundation of health, education and social activities. Please help if you can.
