Mark Johnson was born and raised in Hermiston Oregon. As a person that always wanted to help others, Mark went to school to get his Paramedic. Mark started his EMS service in California before moving back to Hermiston at his current job with Umatilla County Fire District #1. Mark has been working for Umatilla County Fire District #1 formally Hermiston Fire for the past 18 years and a member of IAFF Union L-2752. Recently Mark was having some mild symptoms that no one could figure out. His sister suggested a CT scan just to be sure. After the scan the bad news started flowing. The once healthy, active family man was now diagnosed with Cancer, Lymphoma to be exact. The last few months have been hard on Mark and his whole family. With Mark not working, the savings accounts are starting to take a hit. As someone that is always helping others, it can be hard to ask for help yourself. As a Firefighter/Paramedic Mark has always served his community and never looked for handouts. He was always the one eating healthy and working out to prevent this kind of thing. As a Firefighter we are always told our chances of getting cancer is much higher than the average American. Well this is a case that proves the statistics. We are not looking for condolences, yet raising funds so Mark can focus on the task at hand. Kicking Cancer and curing it. Recent testing has shown his type of cancer is curable, not just remission status but curable. It requires long stays in the Seattle area and being away from family and his home. This will create costs and burdens that we are asking for help to fill. With each donation we are that much closer to insuring Mark has no worries at home and he can focus on recovery. Please take a moment and donate. Your funds will go help save Mark’s life, a life that his risks every day at work to insure his community’s safety.
