It suck’s that some of us have to choose between health and homelessness. It takes EVERYTHING out of me to ask anyone for help. As a lot of you know, in May of 2023 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer on my right side. A few months later, the cancer metastasized and we are now actively attempting to stop the spread. Due to active cancer treatment and the stress level of my job, my oncologist will not release me to go back to work until I have completed the chemotherapy and double mastectomy portion of my treatment (expected RTW April 2024). My medical bills and personal bills are piling up. I have exhausted my medical leave benefits and have been transferred to social security disability for future medical leave payments. If you are familiar with this process, it takes 8 months. EIGHT MONTHS! - I am now quickly entering the realm of homelessness; I haven’t received a paycheck or medical leave payment in 2 months.
